This perspective is something that is very different from that of a coin collectors, as in reality, they are so much more. A coin collector views a coin as an amazing item that is filled with history, curosity, and amazement. Coins are amazing, and relativly low cost pieces of history, because for thousands of years they have been crucial components of almost every country, and were used to facilitate commerce much more than they are used today. In fact, coins are oftentimes one of the first objects that a country produces after it is founded! Most do not realize it, but even in American coins have been mass produced sense the late 1700s, and have changed drastically over the past one hundred years In fact, during the 1800s the United States even minted coins that are considered odd in today monetary standards, such as the two cent piece and three cent nickel. Additionally, coins displays national symbols, heritage, and values. Because of these factors, a lot can be learned by studying coins, so the next time that you use one weather if it is a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, euro, or shilling just think of what they represent, and how they were different many years ago.
