The Bunch - Below Is A List Of Some Items That I Would Personally Recommend For Any New Coin Collector. Please Feel Free To Scroll Down To See More Specific Suggestions In Each Category. Please note too, that this page is still under some construction.
1) Coin Flips 200 2x2 Cardboard Coin Holders, 4 Different Sizes.
- We all have coins that we think are cool, and we want to protect them. Personally, I feel that this assortment of coin folders is very beneficial for any coin collector, or anyone that is starting a con collection, and those that are already coin collecting as this set comes with 4 different sizes so not only can you protect the coins that you already have, but you can protect additional coins as you get them. Please note that this does require a stapler to sue, and often a flat clinched stapler is required but this personally this is the most highly recommended area of coin supplies for me.
2) Lincoln Cents Album. Folder #2 1941-1974.
Personally, the Lincoln folders from Whitman are some of my favorite coin products when it comes to collecting, and storing coins. Personally, when it comes to people that are just starting a coin collection that are on a very tight budget I am a fan of the #2 album. The reason why is because this album spans the dates and mints from 1941-1975 which makes it to where it is possible to fill the majority of the album from your pocket change, but there is still an element of a challenge, or a hunt that comes with filling the album. However, there are other folders that makes it to where it spans the entire series where there are also folders #1 (1909-1940), #3 (1975-213), and #4 which starts in 2014 all of which has their benifits and challenges. With this being said, I personally am a huge fan of the Lincoln cent albums, and I feel that they are a great way for someone to start or grow a collection at any level.
A 30x-60x LED Coin/Jewelers Magnifier
A Magnifier is an important tool to have that will help you learn about, and understand a lot more about coins, and and determine various attributes such as die varieties, small sized errors, and its grade. There are many different options that are out there for collectors, with different strengths, sizes, and more variations to choose from. I choose the specific one because for numerous reasons, one of the reasons is because it is very small which makes it very easy to carry. Also, this magnifier has an LED light in it so you can easily see any of the details that you are focusing on. Moreover, there are two different magnification strengths in this magnifier so you an get two different perspectives on your coin with just this one piece. Although you can grade coins with a weaker magnifier, this one allows you to see the details of your coin at hand much easier which makes it a very useful tool when it comes to grading coins. Coin Boxes For Your 2x2 Holders.
Flat Clinched Stapler - Flat Staples so They Will Not Catch Or Scratch.
One Of The Problems that I see many coin collectors run into is that of their staples. Traditional staples are known for having a small bump, which is often not fully closed. When coins are tightly packed together inside of boxes inside of 2x2, this can become a problem and can make it more difficult to handle your coins and can lead to scratches. A flat clinched stapler does not have that bump that is on traditional staples, which greatly reduces the chances of a scratch occurring from the staple. if you would like to learn more about this product, please feel free to use this link. https://amzn.to/2SNQQ9V
A Soft Cloth, Or A Felt Pad
AA Felt Cloth. Although many not realize it, a microfiber cloth is very beneficial for coins. Oftentimes, we find ourselves looking at raw coins and something as simple as a cloth decreases the chance that the coin at hand will receive unneeded wear, or damage such as scratches. For just $4.79 on Amazon, you can get three of these, and are a rest investment to help protect your coins.
Felt or Cotton Gloves
Believe it or not, our hand have natural oils which can lead to discoloration, fingerprinting, and damage to coins, especially int eh long term. Additionally, even if your hands are clean then sometimes they can have small pieces of dirt or other particles. With this being said, often it is a good idea to have some cotton gloves to protect your coins from this.
